Trusting God in difficult seasons can be hard, but it is this type of faith that can cause breakthroughs to happen.
When Simon (Peter) toiled all night to catch fish and got nothing, he obeyed Jesus when the Lord asked him to try again.
Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” Luke 5:5
When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. Luke 5:6
Almost every miracle that Jesus performed, He gave credit to the faith of the individuals.
- Jesus healed a paralyzed man (Matthew 9:2)
- He healed a woman’s daughter (Matthew 15:28)
- Jesus heals a blind man (Mark 10:52)
- Woman with the issue of blood is healed by faith (Luke 8:48)
- Jesus said, your faith has saved you (Luke 7:50)
Likewise, Jesus encouraged those of little faith, to not be doubtful.
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20
- Lack of faith in the midst of a storm (Matthew 8:26)
- Another result of a lack of faith (Mark 6:6)
- Fear and doubt (Matthew 14:31)
- Fear of not having enough (Matthew 16:8)
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. Matthew 21:21
Paul saw that he had faith to be healed
In the book of the Acts of the Apostles, we see that Paul and Barnabas were speaking and proclaiming the Good News of the Gospel to the people. Accompanying their preaching, God enabled them to perform signs and wonders.
There among the people who were listening to Paul’s teachings of Christ, was a man who was lame from birth.
The Bible says that Paul saw that he had faith to be healed and was healed.
He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk. Acts 14:9-10
While it’s not often that the lack of faith hinders our breakthrough, but most often it is presence of faith that can result in miracles.
Faith in action, along with the will of God for our lives is how things take shape in our lives.
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21
What is faith in action?
There are two powerful verses in the Bible that talk about faith in action.
The first is in Hebrews 11:1, Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
The second verse is in James 2:17, In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
Hebrews talks about faith in knowing that there is only One true God who created the Heavens and the Earth and that He is our only hope of salvation and deserves all the glory as we remain obedient to His Word.

James 2 gives us a perfect example of how we are to behave as men and women of God. To give to the needy by glorifying God, to help those in need and be a light in the world where others will see the true light in you and give glory to the God you serve.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Prayer of Faith during Difficult Times
Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, we stand before Your Holy presence in the name of Jesus Christ Your only Son. It is through the blood of Jesus that we are able to ask for the forgiveness of sins. Cleanse us with Your Holy Spirit and increase our faith that we do not step out in doubt, but in the full assurance and understanding of Your powerful glory. Heavenly Father, we ask that as we walk through the storm, please bless us with the strength we need to walk through these trials. We know and believe that there is nothing impossible for you and so we ask in faith for a breakthrough miracle in our life that we may soon see victory. We ask this prayer in the Mighty name of Jesus, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Amen.
