God has a unique plan for each one of us. Although there are many unexpected instances in our lives, He has a better way of navigating us through difficult circumstances.

But sometimes we may feel like our prayers go unanswered. Like God is hiding from us during our difficult seasons.

But the truth is that God is not hiding, but in fact, orchestrating the plans for our future.

We need to wait patiently for God’s plan to be manifested in our lives according to His timing.

God’s Timing is everything. He has the blueprint for our lives. Its not about when we want our prayer answered, but it’s about when He has it planned for us, and how He will make things shape up for us.

We most often don’t see results straightaway because God takes us through a journey before we see the answers to our prayers.

This journey is important, because it often shows us something we cannot normally see, and draws us closer to God.

Answer to Prayers

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV)

Prayer and bible study are two important way to get closer to God.

Prayer and bible study has personally helped me not only build a stronger relationship with God, but it was also a way for God to reveal things to me.

When I read a bible verse and meditate on it, most of the time God shows me how that verse is applicable in real life.

It shows me:

  • How to come out of the problem I am in
  • Teaches me what is considered right and wrong with God
  • The fruits of the Spirit
  • How we are to treat each other
  • How to stay calm and encouraged in Gods living word

These are just a few things the bible helps with. But if we are truly looking for God to answer our prayers, I believe we will find our answer in the bible.

It may not be a straightforward answer, but it allows us to stay encouraged in the Lord – that all is well.

Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

The Test

God answers prayers

I’d like to share my story of how God worked in me for the good. Although at first it didnt see it, but God turned my life around and now I am in a happy place.

I earn online as a blogger writing about lifestyle and career guidance. But every time God spoke to me about starting a faith blog I hesitated.

Mostly because I felt I wasn’t qualified enough to talk about Gods word to others. I didn’t know how to start or what to write about.

For almost three years He encouraged me to start a Christian blog, but every time I started one I would quit almost immediately, because I felt lost in a way of not knowing what to write.

The Journey

God answers prayers

While everything went well for the first three years of my business, we were faced with a health issue in our family.

This was a big turning point in my life.

I couldn’t concentrate on my blogs and all I did was pray all day.

This was a big turning point in my life and God taught me a valuable lesson. Up until then, it felt like I had control over everything – my family, my finances and my life. It was then that I realised WE NEED GOD.

I got closer to God than ever before and this time I was fuelled to start the Christian blog.

No hesitation. No second thoughts. I just did and it felt so good.

This time I had a reason to focus. I was hurt and this pain got me closer to God.

I finally got the courage to start this site, Lift Your Name, in honour of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. And I have never felt so blessed!

It was by reading the Bible I understood God more and have been ready to share the Gospel to others like me who are going through a difficult time.

If there is a call in your life from God, don’t neglect it. What He asks might seem impossible for us, but with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).

God often shows us what to do, but unfortunately for me I kept avoiding it for a long time.

Psalm 4:3 Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him.

The Outcome

God answers prayers in His perfect time

Psalm 118:21 – I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation.

When I look back, it’s like the past three years God took me through a learning process.

Not how to just build any online business, but to create one that glorifies God, to help spread His word.

I now feel blessed and at peace doing the two things I love – writing and talking about God’s word.

Sometimes good things happen to us in a way we don’t often like. Looking back I don’t think I would have had the need to start a Christian blog if sickness didn’t come into our home.

I still look at healing scriptures for comfort and strength, but now I understand that the reason we faced the health scare was to bring me closer to God and do what He wanted me to do all along.

While things are looking better now for us as a family, I feel blessed that something good came out of the storm we’ve been through.

These days when I write about God, or about bible verses on this site it brings me peace. And I pray that even if one person feels blessed reading this, I am happy God used me to give them courage to face what they are going through right now.

And if you feel like you have a calling in your life and believe in your heart that it is from God. Follow His will and He will guide you through.

Often times we forget how powerful God is.

So if you are praying for an answer from God, I hope that you get your prayers answered. But remember if it is taking longer than you expect, its just because it is not your time yet.

Entrust your problems through him in prayer, as I fully believe that praying to God will get your prayers answered.

Until then know that God is by your side. Psalm 91:1-9 says,

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

Pray and trust that God answers prayers.

Psalm 20:1 May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
