Does the Bible Tell Us to Believe In Jesus?

Yes, the Bible tells us that we are to believe in Jesus, because it is through Him that we receive eternal life.

Jesus said,

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

In fact, Jesus explicitly tells us to believe in Him in this Bible Verse,

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. John 14:1

Here is another bible verse that demonstrates the love of the Father, who sent His Son Jesus, to die on the Cross for the forgiveness of our sins.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death. Revelation 21:8

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. John 3:18

Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men, nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Do Good Works? Or Believe in Jesus?

Know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. Galatians 2:16

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

What Does it Mean to Believe in Jesus

Paul tells us that we are to live our life worthy of our calling (Ephesians 4:1).

When we act in humility, obedience and gratitude to God, we automatically have the fear of the Lord within us. This fear of God is what stops us from sinning.

Fear of God is not when we are struck by terror, instead this fear allows us to be enveloped by the love of God.

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7

➡ Spirit of fear does not come from God, but fear because of reverence for God, brings us closer to Him.

God is Holy and deserves all our praise and worship.

Finally, why is it important to believe in Jesus?

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. Philippians 2:10
