The four Gospels of the New Testament present the life and ministry of Jesus from the perspectives of four different authors. Two of them—Matthew and John—were among Jesus’ twelve disciples and wrote from firsthand experience. The other two, Mark and Luke, were not direct disciples of Jesus, but they were closely connected to the apostles. Mark is traditionally understood to have recorded Peter’s eyewitness account, while Luke carefully investigated and compiled testimony from those who had witnessed Jesus’ earthly ministry, including close associates such as Paul. Together, these four Gospel accounts provide a complementary portrait of the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

2. Gospel of Mark Bible Study PDF

Although it is the shortest of the 4 Gospels, the book of Mark captures the deity of Jesus in a unique way. John the Baptist echoes an Isaiah prophecy of Jesus in Isaiah 40:3, which details Jesus as God. Furthermore, Jesus claims to be able to forgive sins (Mark 2:7-10), ability to calm a storm (Mark 4:35), raise the dead in His own authority (Mark 5:41) and walk on water (Mark 7:49). All of which no previous prophet could have done out of his own will.

3. Book of Luke Bible Study PDF

Luke is the only book that gives a detailed account of the birth of Jesus and the birth of John the Baptist. Important lessons on salvation and the urgency for all to enter into God’s Kingdom are explained in parables such as the parable of the prodigal son and the story of the rich man and Lazarus.

4. Book of John Bible Study PDF

Finally, the book of John which does not go over the parables that were covered in the previous 3 Gospels, but focuses on Jesus Himself. He starts the book by explaining the Godly attributes of Jesus, who created the Heavens and the Earth. Who also took on the form of a man, to enter into His own creation to save them. All this is mentioned in the first Chapter of John, so can you imagine how much more is revealed about Jesus as we go further into this Book!
