Prayer for Deliverance – Isaiah 37
Isaiah 37 tells the story of King Hezekiah of Judah when the mighty Assyrian army threatened to destroy Jerusalem. Instead of giving in to fear, Hezekiah turned to God in prayer.
When the Assyrian officer delivers a message from the King of Assyria, King Hezekiah instead of giving up and losing hope – brought that letter and spread it before the Lord. This is what the Bible says,
Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord. Isaiah 37:14
Hezekiah knew that the battle is the Lords (1 Samuel 17:47) and it is the Lord who will deliver him from the schemes of the enemy. If you have run out of finances, run out of options in your current circumstance, recieved a letter that is not hopeful – bring it before the Lord like King Hezekiah and pray like he did:
Isaiah 37:16-20 – Prayer for Deliverance
O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made the heavens and the earth. Incline your ear, O Lord, and hear; open your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to mock the living God. Truly, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their lands, and have cast their gods into the fire. For they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. Therefore they were destroyed. So now, O Lord our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone are the Lord.
Prayer for Deliverance
Here is my personal prayer inspired by the words of King Hezekiah. Just as he brought his battle before the Lord, we too can bring every struggle, fear, and challenge we face in life to Him. Whatever battle you may be facing today, may this prayer remind you that you are not alone—God is with you, and you can place your worries in His loving hands and trust Him to see you through.
Prayer:
O Lord God, King of all kings, seated on high in the Heavens, you alone are God, the maker of Heaven and Earth. All your creation bow down before you and give you praise. Hear our prayer O Lord, see our troubles O Lord and hear all the words of the enemy who mocks the living God and his children without ceasing. Truly Lord, all demons tremble before you, for you alone are the Holy One, who has the authority to deliver us from all evil. We pray, O God, to save us from the hands of the enemy, and through this all nations shall know that you alone are the Lord of all. Amen.
