In this post, we will take a look at some of the best Bible verses in Matthew to memorize and do a deeper bible study.

Studying the Bible is important because not all bible verses mean exactly what they state. While taking into context is key, comparing scriptures present in both the Old and New Testament as a whole is vital.

Jesus said,

Matthew Bible Verse about Love

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 13:12

When we display good works and a Godly character here on earth, we in turn glorify God in Heaven. People around us will want to know the source of our peace and comfort and this in turn will lead them to the Lord.

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Matthew 7:24

Jesus is our Rock and our foundation. When we put our trust in the Lord, He will make our paths straight (Proverbs 3:5). 1 Corinthians 10:4, tells us that Jesus is our spiritual rock.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:6

We fast to shift our focus to God and not our problems. In the book of Jonah, the people of Nineveh fasted and prayed, and God heard and averted His punishment upon them.

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25 (ESV)

This is a powerful teaching by Jesus who further explains that by being anxious no one is going to add a single hour to our life. Philippians 4:6 also tells us that instead of being anxious, we are to pray and make our requests known to God. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28

We are all called to live a righteous life that is pleasing to God. This passage talks about the importance of eternal life in the Kingdom of God. He reminds us that our soul is of more value than the flesh and that when we put our trust in Jesus we are saved (Romans 10:9; Acts 16:31).
