As we navigate through life, we often encounter moments of hardship and difficulties that make us question the goodness of God.

We may wonder why a loving and all-powerful God would allow pain and suffering to exist in the world.

However, it is important to remember that our understanding of God’s goodness may be limited by our human perspective.

We live in a fallen world that first sinned at the Garden of Eden. Since then all of us have been battling with sin, hate, crime, and other disasters of this world. This was not God’s plan for man.

Our God is a good God and His plan for mankind was good.

Starting from Chapter 1 of the book of Genesis in the Bible, you can read the entire process of God’s creation, including how He created man.

Genesis 1:27, So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Then Genesis 1:28-30 goes on to say, that after creating mankind in His own image, He blessed them and gave them authority to rule over the living creatures of the world and to grow, multiply and fill the earth.

Genesis 1:31, God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning – the sixth day.

The first chapter of Genesis is the perfect example to describe the goodness of God.

God meant for the world to be a good place for us, but because of the sin brought on by Adam and Eve, we now live in a world of hardships and challenges.

But remember our God is good, and He loves us with the purest form of love. Knowing that sin entered the world He sent His son Jesus Christ to live on earth and to be sacrificed for our sins, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Jesus is our way to God the Father.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

While Jesus lived on earth thousands of years ago, God sent us an additional helper – the Holy Spirit who now lives within us.

John 14 explains this to us in great detail, where Jesus says,

If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17

While we cannot see or feel the Holy Spirit, we can experience His presence and be guided by the Spirit to follow the will of God. The only way we can understand the will of God or hear Gods voice is to study the Bible.

When we talk about hearing God’s voice it’s not an actual voice of someone talking to us. Its most often God guiding us through scriptures or people in our life.

The Bible teaches us how God works, what are His ways and how we are to live.

The Bible is the living word of God that is applicable to our daily life here on earth.

Studying the Bible brings God into our life on a daily basis. By doing so, we unconsciously tend to meditate and remember Gods word, and end up making it a part of our daily life.

Its like reading a favourite book or watching a good movie – our mind tends to replay clips or paragraphs of it in our head for the rest of the day.

Instead of a movie or a book, if it was the Bible verses being replaying in our minds – can you imagine how much good we will be doing in this world?

Every time we think of doing something unjust, Gods word will stop us from doing what’s wrong and guide us into the right path.

This is why, not just reading but studying the word of God to understand His power and goodness will drive out any form of physical or emotional bondage in our lives.

So now lets recap and look back at God’s Goodness and the love for His people on earth:

  1. We see that God is good and He created the world and its people for a good purpose
  2. But when sin entered the world, God gave us Jesus to help us overcome sin and to follow the ways of the Lord.
  3. Christ Jesus died on the cross, so that our sins may be forgiven. Jesus is the way to God the Father
  4. God didn’t stop there, He also gave us the Holy Spirit who now lives within us to guide us in our daily lives.
Goodness of God

From the beginning of time, God has shown His love and compassion for humanity through His creation, His provision, and His constant presence in our lives.

Even in the midst of trials, we can trust that God is working all things together for our good, according to His perfect plan.

As we seek to understand the goodness of God, we can find hope and peace in the knowledge that He is always with us, guiding us through every season of life.
